Nah.. ini dia nih produk yang kemungkinan besar akan di release RIM pada akhir tahun 2009.

Spesifikasi resminya sih memang belum ada, namun kabarnya akan ini gabungan antara dimensi Javelin dan Bold. Bodi Javelin dan Keyboard Bold? Ugh mau banget!!!

Arti dari kode Error Java Virtual Machine BB anda

List dari kode error yang bisa saja terjadi di Java Virtual Machine (JVM) BlackBerry anda:

• 101 Internal JVM error.
• 102 Invalid code in file system. The .cod files in the handheld have been checked for modification and it has been determined that there is a problem with one or more .cod files.
• 103 The starting address for the boot .cod file cannot be found. This might mean that a boot .cod file has not been installed on the handheld, or that its format is invalid or corrupt.
• 104 An uncaught Java exception was thrown in the Java code and diagnosed by the JVM. Execution can be continued or the handheld can be attached to a debugger on a desktop through a serial or USB cable. The event log should contain the traceback of the thrown exception.
• 105 An OS file system API returned an error status for a certain operation. This can indicate a corrupt file system or an error in the JVM.
• 106 An error has been detected in the graphics system of the handheld.
• 107 Internal JVM error.
• 108 Internal JVM error.
• 109 Internal OS error.
• 110 Non-idle event downtime error. A problem has been detected in the accumulation of JVM down time that represents how long the JVM has been idle. This indicates an error in either the OS code or the JVM code.
• 200 Application manager threw an uncaught exception. The application manager event thread threw an uncaught exception and so cannot continue running.
• 201 Initialization of the cryptographic system failed and the handheld cannot continue to operate.
• 202 An attack on the key store has been detected, and the handheld cannot continue to operate.
• 203 The application manager console process, usually the Home screen ribbon, has failed, like due to an uncaught exception.
• 501 Internal error.
• 502 All processes exited. The last Java process has terminated, and there is nothing left to execute.
• 503 Internal error.
• 504 Internal error.
• 505 Internal error.
• 506 An uncaught Java exception was thrown in the initial VM Java thread thus killing the only live thread in the system. The event log contains the traceback for the exception.
• 507 A dependency on a .cod file could not be satisfied due to a missing .cod file. Load the missing .cod file onto the handheld.
• 508 Invalid object. A problem has been detected with a debugger command to the VM.
• 516 Error occurred during garbage collection, which might indicate a corrupted file system.
• 510 All threads are waiting on objects, which results in a deadlock. The system cannot recover from this state since no thread can release a lock.
• 511 A problem has occurred during debugging.
• 515 The reachable objects form a group that cannot be represented properly by the VM because there are too many objects or the total size of the objects is too large.
• 516 When committing a persistent object, the VM found that the persistent store id counter has reached its limit. The object was not committed.
• 517 An inconsistency has been detected in the VM persistent object store.
• 518 Internal error.
• 519 Internal error.
• 520 Internal error.
• 521 Indicates that Object.wait() has been executed by a thread that holds a lock on another object; occurs only in simulator if the JvmDebugWaits application switch.
• 522 A thread has acquired two locks on objects in an order that doesn’t match the order that previous locks for the two types were acquired, which indicates a future potential deadlock situation; reported only in the simulator when the JvmDebugLocks application switch is set.
• 523 A critical Java process has died and the device cannot continue to operate normally.
• 524 An object has been marked as recovered by the Low Memory Manager but it was not freed during a garbage collection. This is only checked in the simulator under the control of the JvmDebugLMM application switch.
• 525 Bad persistent object. An auto-commit operation during a garbage collection has detected a non-persistent object reachable from the persistent store root. The type of the object has been output into the event log.
• 526 The class definition for java.lang.Object cannot be found.
• 527 The class definition for java.lang.String cannot be found.
• 528 The file system is corrupted. Data on the handheld is unrecoverable.
• 529 The file system is corrupted. An attempt is going to be made to recover data, but some data might be lost.
• 530 Internal JVM error.
• 531 Flash memory has been exhausted.
• 532 A JVM assertion has been violated. This error can occur only in the simulator, not on an actual handheld.

BlackBerry on Demand (BoD)

BoD adalah BIS yang dapat di aktivasi/non-aktivasikan melalui SMS. BoD ini pertama kali diluncurkan di Indonesia dan oleh Telkomsel lalu disusul oleh operator-operator lainnya.

Layanan ini begitu mudah digunakan sehingga menjadi pilihan favorite bagi pengguna BlackBerry pemula yang masih ingin mencoba-coba layanan operator maupun bagi pengguna yang memiliki beberapa handheld BlackBerry karena lebih mudah untuk berganti-ganti layanan (aktivasi dan non-aktivasi tanpa perlu ke galeri operator). Waktu aktivasi layanan ini pun sangat cepat, yang berani dijanjikan operator adalah dalam 24 jam akan aktif tetapi kebanyakan sudah aktif dalam 1-2 jam. BoD dapat digunakan untuk SIM pre-paid maupun post-paid

Layanan BIS pre-paid ini sama dengan BIS post-paid dalam hal unlimited data selama menggunakan APN BlackBerry dan juga diberikan 10 account emails.

GEMINI anyone?

Tahun lalu gembar-gembor hebat mengenai BOLD dan JAVELIN… Di tahun 2009 sepertinya akan hadir beberapa kode-kode baru. Sebelumnya “Pluto” kemudian disusul dengan “Magnum” tapi sekarang hadir pula dengan kode “Gemini” alias BlackBerry 9300.

Apakah kode “Gemini” ini? sepertinya generasi Curve lengkap dengan “3G” jadi good bye BOLD….

Issuenya dari GEMINI:

• Layar lebih besar dari BlackBerry 8900 (Javelin) dan tentu dengan resolusi yang lebih tinggi lagi.
• Prosesornya akan juga makin hebat dan mungkin lebih hebat dari BOLD 624MHz
• Hadir dengan warna Silver dan sangat serupa dengan 8900
• Hadir dengan 4-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dan 3-band UMTS/HSDPA
• WiFi dan GPS belum bisa di jamin hadir akan tetapi 99,99% kemungkinan
• Spec untuk kamera juga belum ada konfirmasi dari RIMs

Kapan? Sepertinya masih gosip dan kalaupun hadir bisa dipastikan di Q4 2009 atau Q1 2010… OUCH masih lama ya. Berarti BOLD dan JAVELIN masih akan dipakai kita-kita untuk waktu yang cukup lama. Thanks GOD!

P.S. Ups… Kode “GEMINI” ternyata bukan untuk BB 9300 jadi artikel dari BGR ternyata salah dan sudah dikoreksi..

Username/Password untuk akses ke CommBerry

Ada beberapa kawan yang masih menanyakan kenapa mereka tidak dapat mengakses ke CommBerry, di karenakan username/password tidak match. Mohon maaf untuk ketidaknyamanan ini karena ini memang terjadi untuk beberapa user yang mendaftar sebelum tanggal 7 February.

Perlu sedikt diperjelas bahwa akses ke CommBerry sekarang tidak perlu menggunakan username/password, akan tetapi akses ke forum  di mana anda akan gain something more, tetap menggunakan username/password. Akses ini bisa melalui halaman depan CommBerry atau halaman forum.

Untuk yang masih belum dapat mengakses dengan username/password dapat melakukan salah satu dari langkah di bawah ini:

1. Coba reset password anda, dengan masuk ke halaman ini, masukkan username/e-mail yang pernah di daftarkan, password baru akan dikirimkan lewat email yang didaftarkan tersebut. Setelah itu silahkan rubah password sesuai dengan keinginan anda.
2. Kirim email ke commberry@gmail.com, sebutkan username anda dan akan di reset password nya ke temporary password, untuk kemudian dapat di rubah sesuai keinginan anda.

O Themes for 8900 & Storm, Where Art Thou?

Buat yang sudah menggunakan Curve 8900 (Javelin) dan Storm, pasti sampai saat ini gregetan karena belum ada Themes yang tersedia untuk kedua device ini, not a single one! Padahal themes sangat diperlukan bukan hanya untuk mempercantik penampilan, akan tetapi yang lebih penting adalah kemampuan nya untuk menambah nilai produktivitas kita dengan antara lain menampilkan jadwal hari ini di halaman depan, untuk themes tertentu bahkan bisa memperlihatkan preview dari semua messages kita dll.

Pengguna Bold adalah salah satu yang paling beruntung karena themes yang tersedia untuk device ini bejibun, jadi problem nya di mana?

Mari kita lihat, semua themes yang di buat menggunakan tools dari Plazmic (www.plazmic.com) di mana mereka menyediakan CDK (Content Developer Kit), nah CDK yang tersedia saat ini adalah versi 4.6 (untuk BlackBerry Software 4.6) yang tidak/belum mengcover 8900 (4.6.1) dan Storm (4.7). Walaupun kedua device terakhir sudah di luncurkan beberapa saat dan RIM sudah merelease SDK untuk keduanya, tetapi support untuk themes ngga keluar-keluar (sampai saat ini belum ada tanda2 apapun mengenai ini).

Why BlackBerry?

Pertanyaan yang satu ini paling sering ditanyakan oleh banyak orang: Kenapa BlackBerry? Pasti kita pernah mendapatkan pertanyaan ini selama menggunakan BlackBerry. Jawaban bisa sangat subyektif, sesuai dengan justifikasi dari masing2 pengguna.

Banyak yang bilang, BlackBerry itu device nya ibu2, artis2, bahkan sampai di sinetron pun sering muncul BlackBerry. As gua recall ada salah satu sinetron SCTV yang semua orang yang muncul di sinetron itu pasti menggunakan BlackBerry sebagai phone (ya selain mungkin ini serve sebagai promosi ya).

Penggunaan BlackBerry sebagai perangkat komunikasi seakan-akan berubah menjadi sebuah style, sebuah pengakuan atas sesuatu. Memang tidak ada yang salah dari semua itu, karena pada dasarnya sebuah device di buat memang dengan mempertimbangkan salah satunya asas style, oleh sebab itu muncullah berbagai model dan bentuk. Tapi kenapa sih BlackBerry?

Sebagian besar dari kita pasti setuju bahwa tidak ada satupun device yang sempurna, no one size fits all! Not even BlackBerry, tetapi sebagai sebuah device, BlackBerry sangat fokus ke aktivitas yang bernama komunikasi, baik itu chat, voice, email, social networking… you name it semuanya berhubungan dengan aktivitas komunikasi itu sendiri. Dan yang paling menarik adalah kemampuan push email nya yang sangat cepat dan terkompresi dengan sangat baik. Ini yang membedakan BlackBerry dengan device lain.

Gua adalah pengguna iPhone sebelum ini, baik iPhone 2G maupun yang 3G. Banyak features menarik lain yang disediakan oleh iPhone yang tidak ada di BlackBerry seperti kemampuan terintegrasi dengan iTunes Store untuk mendapatkan multimedia files dan applications sangat mudah, akan tetapi setelah beberapa pertimbangan, harus diaukui iPhone is a great device tapi tidak semua features yang disediakan oleh iPhone diperlukan dalam aktivitas sehari-hari, why should I carry more than what I need? I end up having iPod Touch 2G untuk menggantikan fungsi iPhone dan keep BlackBerry (was Bold but now happily use 8900) untuk aktivitas sehari-hari.

10 things we hate about BlackBerry

Setelah The Boy Genius post mengenai 10 things they hate about iPhone, sekarang list untuk BlackBerry. Here we go:

We gave you our iPhone list, and while this probably has many more minor annoyances than actual feature omissions, we still thought it would be fun to put a list of our gripes together. Some of these might be device-specific, but you’ll get a general feel for the direction we’re going and why these things piss us off to no end.

1. The ridiculous limit on file sizes when downloading from the browser. Look, if I want to download a friggin’ video file, let me.

2. Attachments are pretty bad and it has to do with RIM’s ever-so-sneaky compression. We’ve heard that when data is sent over their network, it literally can take a 100kb file and compress it to around 7kb. (A carrier’s dream). Just let us get the entire file without having to constantly wait for it to render when we zoom it, etc.

3. Specifically speaking for the Bold, the “R” shortcut key no longer takes you to the Alarm. This pains me.

4. Actually, about shortcuts… for a product that excels on making your life easier and offering up a ton of user-customization, there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to program our own shortcut keys. If I want the letter “B” to take me to the Memo Pad, then let me do it damn it. I’m tired of being stuck at the mercy of RIM’s shortcut key assignment. They make no sense and they are hardly integrated in 3rd party applications.

5. When you get a pop-up menu, there are no boundaries to where you can scroll. Let’s use one of the Application Permissions screens. Why am I allowed to scroll above “Yes” and below “No”? There are only two options yet it seems as if you could scroll to China before selecting one of them.

6. Horrible APIs that developers can’t access. If RIM opened these up, we’d have a much better set of applications on there than we do now. I’m not sure anyone can say 3rd party apps are one of BlackBerry’s strengths.

6 and a 1/2. One of the reasons the OS is so bad at times is because of the nature of the device — security. We know this is why over 50,000 of them are deployed across the U.S. Government for instance, but look, RIM either needs to deploy a consumer brand or find a way to make this work. Security is great and all, but stick to what you know. You’re either the businessman’s savior or the tween’s IM machine. It’s incredibly difficult to be both. Don’t try and conquer the music industry or take on Apple’s App Store. It won’t work and you’re diverting precious resources away from other serious projects.

7. Build quality has been declining. That’s not to say there aren’t some BlackBerrys that will last forever, but from personal experience, every device since the Bold has suffered countless production issues and problems. (Anyone get the screen freak out on their Bolds? I bet you have.) I’d be interested in seeing the average lifespan of a BlackBerry now compared to two years ago. I think it would be shocking.

8. When sending an email with a local file attachment, show me the status! I want to watch it go from 1%-100%! It comforts me.

9. Desktop Manager shouldn’t take forever to update the operating system. I think it’s fair to say RIM has the longest OS update time in the biz.

10. Stop with the “More” crap. Let me get the entire email message when I want it. Also let HTML emails load external images automatically. Yes, yes, we know. It’s for security. But you know what, if I want to venture out on a limb and *gasp* download external .jpgs automatically, let me!
